In a flat of very reduced dimensions, all the walls were eliminated to create a wide and diaphanous atmosphere. From the resulting void, a box-shaped volume was implanted, which acts as the only distributing and organising element of the space, highlighting the contrast between the occupied space and the void.

This box, made from wood lacquered in intense green, separates the day zone from the night zone. It operates as a container that houses the bathroom inside it and the kitchen and the fitted wardrobes of the only bedroom in its opposite laterals. Attached to one side only, the box stands out like a sculptural piece, enhancing the height of the original ceilings and the spaciousness of the surrounding space.

The volume of the green box stands out for its refined use and combination of materials, in contrast to the rest of the floor, which is kept in a neutral raw, homogeneous white. The hardwoods, the green granite and the striped and backlit glass that make up the kitchen, creating a box of light inside the box, provide a subtle luxury that contrasts with the brick walls covered in white.

The intervention stands out for the play of contrasts: emptiness versus fullness, absence of colour versus the powerful green stain, luxury and careful details versus the simple and bare, soft textures versus rough ones. These contrasts create a lively and sensorial space.

Finally, brass joints embedded in the flooring draw lines that subtly delimit the different living spaces. Brass, as a precious material, complements the concept of the jewellery box, inviting the luxury of the box to spread throughout the space.
