Cubic 3

2016

3³ combines both sculpture and utility. It is a versatile object that, whilst functional, inspires the senses and evokes emotional experiences. The combination of form/matter/scale converted into a work tool enables numerous arrangements and potentiates the versatile use of the object. Form and scale allow for resourceful, customizable uses, whilst the matter facilitates unique configurations.

The three minimalist shapes, though self-sufficient, have different aptitudes that combine to satisfy individual needs.

Vase – the outside curve hides the inner circle that generates the shape. Whether resting on the slat or suspended from the structure, this piece brings the object to life. The smallest of the three shapes can contain flowers, fruit or light in translucent or opaque marble.

Structure - The polished metal quadrangular prism structure is an abstraction, a creation of the spirit that comprises the other entities. It is the prop that defines the limits and transforms the object into a shelf, a suspended light or a scenic piece.

Slate - The third component is the mediator where the two worlds combine – the straight line and the curve. It is a flat wooden element that connects the marble vase and the metal structure at four different possible heights.
